Enjoying Christmas Leftovers and a Down Day on "Boxing Day!"

I hope everyone who celebrates has a lovely Christmas!

Today was a public Holiday here in the USA since Christmas Day was actually on a Sunday this year, so banks, offices and so on were closed for the day.

Meanwhile, it was a windy and very rainy day, so it was a good time to just hunker down and relax... and enjoy some of our fairly substantial leftovers from yesterday!

I spent a good bit of the day organizing a lot of my loose writing notes — yes, I do actually find such activities as "organizing my thoughts" to be pretty relaxing! — and thinking about just how much I actually enjoy blogging and being part of a worldwide blogging community.

People sometimes ask me if I am "still involved" with crypto social sites — given that the crypto markets have tanked and we hardly get "paid" very much anymore — and I am of course, but it makes me realize that I am actually here for a lot more than just getting a reward.

People also ask me whether or not writing is my "hobby."

Well, not exactly. It's definitely a pastime I really enjoy, and I do write on a daily basis simply for the enjoyment of it, but I mostly write with some kind of purpose.

Most of my adult life writing has mostly been part of my occupation, in the sense that I have written tens of thousands of sales letters, newsletters, instruction manuals, copy for advertising and much more... and that was definitely not my hobby, but it also didn't mean that my occupation was "writer." I was simply someone who volunteered that I didn't mind being assigned projects that included "a substantial writing component."

I also know a lot of people will steer clear of such things, to whatever extent they can.

However, writing "conversationally" — as I do with this blog — might be considered a hobby. It's also a nice way to just "empty my head" at various points, although mostly at the end of the day.

Tomorrow, "regular life" will start back up, which means I have to resume paying full attention to my eBay businesses, and that will mean putting extra focus on the first three months of the new year to raise enough cash for our final "really expensive" property tax payment — a little over 7,000 USD — which comes up at the end of March. I say "final" because I turned 62 during 2022 which makes me "senior" enough to start getting a substantial tax reduction as a "retired" person.

The whole idea of being "retired" makes me chuckle to myself as it is almost completely unlikely that I will ever be able to stop working. But at least our property taxes will be 75% lower, by next year... and I guess that's almost like having extra "income," in a sense.

Well, I guess it's time for me to call it a night... thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the final few days of 2022!
