Full Steem Ahead: A Sense of Hope for the Future!

In case you were not already aware, a proposal to modernize the look and feel of steemit as we know it was recently approved! This marks the first time in quite a few years that there are plans to actually improve the interface we use every day.

This is an initiative by @the-gorilla who is a seasoned developer and it is the first project to be funded by the Steemit Development Fund in several years.

I think this is great news for the community, and - when completed - this update will definitely send a message to the world that Steemit is not dead in the water as I expect a lot of people believe at this point.

Can't say I blame anyone for thinking that, given the bumpy ride of the last few years.

Of course, it will also be a really good thing for those of us who are here and who are community members and part of the Steemit experience.

Of course, this is not something that is going to happen overnight, but I believe the project is in safe hands with somebody responsible who will not only able to complete the task from a technical perspective but who also as an active community member himself... and who will keep people informed of progress.

During what I think of as "the old days," one of the things that was always thoroughly lacking around here was communication between those who were (supposedly) building the technical sides of our community and the users.

Part of what makes me feel so hopeful about the new proposal is the fact that we now have a known face, and we have somebody who is already an active part of the community.

There is no doubt that this project is not coming a moment too soon! After all, much of the world was left with the impression that after the Hive/Steem fork in early 2019, Steemit the social site would pretty much just dry up and disappear.

And there certainly was a time when that seemed like a very real possibility. However, a small group of dedicated community members have shown a remarkable amount of resilience in the face of adversity. And so, Steemit is still here.

One of the other things that is giving me a bit of hope here is that I am slowly seeing a number of what I might refer to as "old timers" coming back and having a look. Sometimes we are talking about people who have not been part of the active goings on for four or five years! Again, I think this is a very good sign.

But, as I suggested, this is a process that is just beginning. And I'm sure there's going to be a lot more to it than just building a prettier wrapper around Steemit than we currently have.

There are also important tasks - perhaps a bit further down the road - in the field of public relations and having dedicated liaisons to send out press releases to all the crypto and financially related media about what's going on here, as well as potentially liaisons between Steemit and crypto exchanges... both centralized and decentralized around the world.

A very important part of making a community grow and thrive is not only to have a great community, but also to make that community known and easily accessible from the greater world. And we still have a long way to go in that respect!

I'm just happy to see things moving again.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great remainder of your week!

I am also pleased that the Propostal has been accepted. And it also gives me hope that this is perhaps just the beginning of new developments.
