Once again, I found myself sitting there, staring at the blue screen telling me that my computer was "busy" and "working on something."
Granted, I probably spent more time looking at these screens than most people, since my computer is getting to be about 10 years old. As you probably know, that's close to Stone Age, in the world of technology!
It's at times like this that I feel very grateful for having been blessed with a lot of patience, from nature's side. And it stands me in good stead.
Patience is certainly not a trait I got from my parents. My dad was notoriously IM-patient and was given to fits of rage whenever things were moving too slowly for his liking. I still remember him getting up and walking out of restaurants if the food was taking too long to arrive.
Even as a little kid, I was quite the opposite. My mother said that I would simply sit and patiently wait for things to happen, without any fuss or protest... quite UNlike most small kids.
As I grew up it manifested as a willingness to always take a long term perspective, with respect to pretty much everything I was involved with.
This has had some pretty positive effects in my life... whether it be watching a screen like the one up top without losing my sanity, or in my approach to investing.
Interesting enough, even though I was rather skeptical at the beginning, I also approached being part of Steemit with a lot of patience. It takes time to build a community... and one of the degterminations I made very early on was that I was willing to give this "experiment" five years, to see whether or not it was a worthwhile project.
I'm glad I did! It has been almost five years... next month will be my 5th anniversary here!
I don't know if having this hefty dose of patience is always a good thing... I think there may have been a few occasions along the way where I gave some venture or person more patience than was warranted in the situation... but I don't know that I really lost anything, as a result.
All in all, the good far outweighs any possible drawbacks!
Thanks for reading, and have a great remainder of your week!

Until it finally gave up this past summer, my phone was still one of the small/narrow ones with a tiny screen... pretty much nobody I know could understand "how I could function" with such an old phone. As long as the technology works, I don't really care how old it is.

Me concidero una persona paciente, aunque otras personas le parezca que sea conforme con lo que hago o con lo que recibo.
