A lot has been written — and said — about the importance of ”maintaining a positive attitude” in life.
But what does that really mean?
I’ll be the first to admit that I typically tend to come across as a fairly serious person, and nobody will ever accuse me of being one of those eternally cheerful personality types who’s always making everyone around them laugh.
Which brings me to the point about the many ways we can interpret someone having a positive attitude towards life.
For me, that positive attitude comes in the form of a pretty unwavering belief that things will get better, no matter how rotten they might feel, right now. Whether you label it as blind "hopium" or something else, I have almost always been able to see my way through difficult situations by riding the belief that eventually things will get better!
It is that particular approach to life that has gotten me through many of the darkest moments of my life; times when most people around me had long since given up, or become too depressed and dejected to keep trying.
At the moment, this particular approach to life is helping me not get too depressed and sad about the fact that the crypto markets — and our own Steem token, in particular — seem to be on rather shaky ground.
Having been through slow times before experience has taught me that a lot of people do pack it in and go away when it seems like things are going poorly.
Of course, the flipside of the coin tends to be that I end up being ”loyal to a fault” and will tend to keep grinding away at something even after it is showing itself to have become unviable and beyond rescue.
Even so, I do believe you can get a long way in life by simply showing up and sticking to something even when everyone else is giving up.
Then again, maybe I’m just stubborn and pig-headed!
And it certainly hasn't served me as well when it comes to toxic friendships and relationships... where I would have been better off just looking the inevitable squarely in the face!
Sometimes it all makes me stop to wonder what it is that makes human beings pessimists in one area of their life and optimists in different areas of their lives.
Is it simply that we had prior positive experiences with something? And because of that, even when things are turning against us the old experience reminds us that things could get better? Or is it more a matter of self-esteem?
It can be a bit of a mystery, can't it?
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great remainder of your week!
