I expect we've all had moments in our lives where we find ourselves at the edge of just wanting to give up.
Some people don't need to face a whole lot of adversity before they are ready to throw in the towel, others seem to have a remarkable resilience in the face of difficult times.
Based on what I've seen around me I guess I fit more or less in the latter category, in large part because I was raised in an environment where difficult times were considered the norm, while good times were considered a rare gift that you should appreciate when it happens but certainly not count on.
Perhaps that last statement sheds a little light on the whole question of why some people seem so perseverant and others seem to fold so easily under pressure.
What are your expectations? Do you even have expectations? Or do you simply take whatever comes to you and deal with it as best you can?
As I have written before, I was raised by mostly older people, some of whom were old enough that they had lived through the original Great Depression, as well as suffer considerable hardship during World War II.
From them, I learned a lot about simply living in the moment and being grateful for whatever happens to come your way because after all there was a chance that things could be much worse.
The reason I find myself here writing these words is that I just came across an article talking about how the well known "Bitcoin fear greed index " is currently pointing to extreme fear.
For some people, extreme fear — whether you're playing around in the crypto markets or doing something else — is often a precursor to throwing in the towel and saying ”I just can't handle this anymore!”
What's interesting about that, is that this particular mindset can actually take a bad situation and make it even worse: people who are on the edge see things not going well and decide that they need to bail out as well and then things get even worse.
I'm certainly not claiming that I'm immune to seeing economic indicators stock markets and crypto markets taking a nosedive, but that sort of thing is usually just an indicator for me to dig in and keep going!
I'm sure there are times on the way when I shouldn't have done so but for the most part things have turned out pretty well following that strategy.
So when I saw a ticker a few minutes ago that said that Bitcoin had fallen to $41,600, my feeling was mostly "oh boy here we go again!" rather than any particular sort of fear.
Time to take our 39 cent Steem and hang in there, and keep plugging away at it!
Thanks for reading, and have a great remainder of your week!
How about YOU? Did the sudden dive in the crypto markets make you nervous? Or do you just accept it as "how things are?" Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

Normally I expect the worst possible outcome. So I am only going to be suprised in a positive way. Does not always work but sometimes it helps :D
