Modern Life: It's All "A Matter of Time!"

I can't speak to life in other parts of the world, but living here in the USA means — for an ever greater number of people — a sinking sensation that you have less and less time, while there is more and more to be done.

Good Intentions.... BUT...

Last weekend, Mrs. Denmarkguy and I were at an arts and crafts show with our art, and I set an intention to get back to blogging daily... which promptly collapsed because I just couldn't make the time. And it annoyed me, because I'm all about "showing up every day" as a primary cause for success, at pretty much anything.

The underlying problem is nearly always the same: What people do "for a living" actually isn't "a living" at all, so we end up having second and even third jobs, just to make ends meet.

I've never been someone who feels entitled to a handout, so my solution to situations where income is lagging is simply to work more. But there's a limit to that, somewhere.

Forgiveness...

One of the things I have gotten better at with age is forgiving myself. That would include when I sit down to start a blog post at 1:00am in the morning, and decide I am just too damn tired to be creative... so I turn off the lights instead, and head off to bed.

It's OK, there's always tomorrow!

But there's still a limit to how often I can get away with saying that!

Like many people living in the USA these days, I find it frustrating that I am just substituting one thing that's "not enough" for a different thing that's also "not enough."

So, this afternoon I went grocery shopping for the weekend... and found myself wondering how the same budget is somehow going to allow us to buy food that's often as much as 20% higher than it was, just a year ago.

"Buy things in bulk, when they are on sale!"

I'm glad my mother taught me how to make the most out of a very meager food budget, and I regularly find myself being very grateful for the fact that we grow a fair amount of our own vegetables.

And so, here I am at 1:00 in the morning writing a blog post! Because it's just a matter of time and making time to get it done.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great Friday!
