Not All Days are Created Equal: Trying to Get the Brain For to Lift!

As I have occasionally mentioned before, creativity seldom happens in a "straight line."

Lately, I feel like I have been on a definite "down curve," and every time I sit down to write something, it feels like a thick soupy fog of non-inspiration infiltrates my brain, and I end up walking away and doing something else.

Legitimate Distractions

I try to cut myself some slack... perhaps it could be said that I have a legitimate excuse at the moment: Our 31-year old daughter is getting married, next week.

She wanted one of those "big" weddings, so it feels like a lot of things are pretty much turned upside down, and with just 8 days to go, the anxiety and nerves are ramping up a few notches every day.

Unlike some people, I am one of those folks who do their best work in calm and relaxed surroundings.

Chaos and lots of activity throws me off my game.

Most of the time, though, I just find myself wishing and praying that the actual experience lives up to the very dialed-up expectations our daughter has created for this event.

I accept it as it is, of course.

I'm sure many young women harbor secret desires to have an over-the-top "Disney Princess Experience" at some point in their lives... often on their wedding day.

On some level I am very grateful to both the former and the current Mrs. Denmarkguy for having a more low-key wedding, and instead using those enormous sums of money to travel and build a beautiful home.

For me "Big Events" have always felt rather like a spectacular fireworks rocket: They go up, create a moment of magnificent display... and immediately move on to the realm of memory.

Some might say that's not very romantic, or too sensible, but we all have our things that are important. This is our daughter's important thing... and so, the only thing I wish for is that she is happy and the big day comes close to what she had hoped it would be!

I expect my brain fog will somewhat lift after November 11th!

In the meantime, thanks for stopping by, and have a great remainder of your week!

How about YOU? Do you every have issues with "brain fog" when there are other things in life keeping you preoccupied? Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

Congratulations to your daughter and I hope the remaining preparations go well. Don’t forget that it’s the responsibility of the father of the bride to embarrass himself on the dance floor (all video evidence of this is very welcome 😊) - no brain is required for this 😊
