Reflection: Feeling Nervous About the State of the World!

This morning, over our coffee, Mrs. Denmarkguy and I were talking about the fact that many parts of the world are reaching the point of lifting some or all Covid-19 related restrictions.

I know that in my native Denmark, most mandates were dropped a few weeks back — in spite of new cases being at a record high — because the Danish Immunology Institute had determined that Covid "no longer poses a serious health threat."

I won't get into whether or not that is true; the point here is that many places are starting to put Covid behind them, at least as something to panic and freak out over.

Mrs. Denmarkguy — who knows a lot about human motivations and tends to be very insightful — observed "now that Covid has about run out of mileage, it won't be long before the world finds something NEW to get anxious about!"

And so, we're about to put Covid on the proverbial back burner... and now we can call freak out and wring our hands with worry about the unfolding situation between Russia and Ukraine.

Now, don't misunderstand me here... I'm not trying to make light of what is a very serious situation, I'm just observing how we have just about put one crisis "to bed," and a new one immediately presents itself.

The financial markets pretty much headed down the toilet when Covid-19 first came along... and it looks like they are poised to do the same over the Ukraine situation... particularly if Mr. Putin turns this into an excuse for a full-scale invasion.

It all begs the question of whether we have managed to create a world in which we don't even get a few month's "peace" where there's not some global crisis pounding on our collective doors.

We might think we are "too far away"to be influenced by various events around the world... but generally, we are not.

I've mentioned that I am trying to scrape money together to pay a tax bill next month... and "selling crypto" is certainly one of the options on the table. But when the markets head in the toilet due to a crisis... selling "some" crypto suddenly becomes selling "a lot." There's a HUGE difference between 60-cent Steem and 25-cent Steem!

At the moment... I'm feeling a little nervous over this new developing crisis. But I am still going to try for that 30-day blogging challenge!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great rest of your week!

How about YOU? Do you think the world always finds SOME kind of crisis to worry about? Do we just not know how to live without something being off the rails? Are you worried about the current Russia/Ukraine situation? Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

The idea of putting flower photos on your post while talking about the crises in the world is very nice. I felt like flowers were adding hope and beauty to our subconscious.

Unfortunately, the crises do not end in the world. It's as if humans have a special ability to create crises! When a new problem starts, we get used to the popularity of the other so quickly that it's unbelievable. In diseases, countries can unite, in tensions between countries, showdowns and taking sides to become tenser as the environment gets worse. In fact, there are so many crises at the same time, such as the climate crisis. But its popularity is thought to be decreasing. I don't know if a crisis-free world can be real. I think the crises will continue as long as the human race exists. I hope people don't get hurt anymore in the current crisis.
