Someone once told me that ”the person who hasn’t made a mistake hasn’t made ANYthing.”
At the time, I found it rather annoying — after all. Nobody wants to make mistakes — but over time I have come to appreciate the wisdom.
And sometimes making those mistakes will result in having to start over, from the very beginning.
To be honest, I feel like I have had to start over on projects — even some I was doing quite well with — for as long as I can remember.
Oddly enough, what came to mind — and what inspired me to start writing about this topic — was the old ”early days” of the Internet where you might start writing something, and all of a sudden your connection or the web site you were using, would ”glitch out,” and all your previous writing would simply vanish into thin air. Lost, and not recoverable…
”Autosave” was not yet a thing.
And so, 20 minutes of creative work might go directly down the drain! But if what you were doing was important to you, you had to figure out some way to rustle up a willingness to start over.
More often than not, I was able to!
Ironically, I now find myself looking at that task with my Steemit blog… because I substantially had to power down most of my holdings to pay a tax bill. There’s a second irony there, namely that people who make as little as I do actually have to pay taxes… self-employment tax.
It would be easy to look at the situation and declare it a disaster... but I am actually finding a place of gratitude, instead.
Gratitude that I was able to do this, and not end up deep in trouble with the tax department. Because there is usually a sunny side to most problems we face in life!
And so, onwards I go...
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great remainder of your week!
How about you? Have you had to start over, on some large project? Are you pretty strong in the face of setbacks? Leave a comment if you feel so inclined — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!
