Running on Empty - Some Days Are Harder Than Others!

Earlier today, I was lamenting to Mrs. Denmarkguy that sometimes it feels like there just isn't enough me to go around!

I explained how I felt like it would all be a lot easier if there was one of me to do actual work for money, one of me to do yard work and house maintenance, and one of me to do the grocery shopping, house chores, accounting, taxes and such things.

Of course, I'm sure we have all had such feelings at one time or another... so it's not like I am having a brand new experience!

That said, I do feel rather worn down these days and it's part of the reason why I haven't had time to blog on a regular basis... much to my regret and sadness.

As much as anything, I suppose it's a sign of the times... many people are working more than they used to, while facing ever-increasing expenses. Eventually you reach a point where you are just out of get-up-and-go to do any more.

Of course, there are always things we can do. The trick lies in finding ways to overcome the psychology of that feeling that you are trying to bail out a sinking boat that's taking on water faster than you can use your bucket to empty it out!

And that's no small task!

I've been through my share of difficult times, but the difference this time is that the challenges seem more systemic than individual... creating a lingering feeling of helplessness.

Talked to a friend yesterday and she was sharing- albeit reluctantly- that she was approaching a sense of hopelessness more than she could ever remember having previously.

I can definitely emphasize.

I'm not sure if it is "tough times" that bothers me the most... or the sense that we are all being lied to about the actual state of affairs... because the public news suggests things are not great, but certainly fair and getting better.

Is that really true? I have my doubts...

In a few days, I will have my 63rd birthday. Hard times or not, I choose to focus on the moment... and we'll just have to see what comes up!
