As an introvert, sometimes I can't help but wonder what would happen if I run out of things to say. That is to say, if I run out of things to write about.
But is such a thing really possible?
Here's the thing: Even if I feel like I have run out of things to say, there are always thoughts going through my mind. Well, almost always ...
Lately, I haven't been here as often as I would have liked to, due to other obligations keeping me busy.
This all got me to thinking about one of the inherent contradictions of being a writer and at the same time striving for having peace of mind.
Quiet Mind, Lots of Words
Lots of people spend lots of effort on the whole idea of "silencing the Mind" through things like meditation and mindfulness, and yet we writers depend entirely on having swirling thoughts all the time so we can put them down on paper and share them with the world!
A little bit ironic, don't you think?
Of course, creativity does tend to run in cycles. And so does the intensity of those "swirling thoughts" I have depended on to create almost 2,000 posts in this community. Soon it will have been seven years.
I'm not out of thoughts and words... yet...
Emptying My Head
These days, I actually use my phone more as a dictation device than I use it for making calls and texting and such.
The deal is that I find it very useful - whenever I have an idea - to simply open up a blank page and speak a few words so they will be recorded and then I can move on and deal with them later.
In a way, it serves to "empty my head" during the day when I'm out and about.
These are difficult times for many people, including ourselves. Sometimes it feels like I simply can't afford to sit and contemplate blog posts. Have to stay focused on what pays the bills...
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Friday!

I definitely don't have that as a problem - sometimes I joke (many a truth said in jest) that one of the reasons I drink wine is just to get my damn mind to slow the heck down and give me a damn break, lol!
I was wondering :)
That is such a great idea!!!! So often, I will have a thought or an idea and despite promising myself I absolutely WILL remember it later on... I mostly don't, lol

Wine does soften the edges, doesn't it? I could easily become a lush... ironically, the fact that my mother was a functional alcoholic has taught me a measure of restraint!
Meh... I don't remember stuff at all after the fact, which I guess is due to my ADHD tendencies. Voice to text has been be consistent go-to, particularly when I am too busy to actually sit down and write something.

I probably fall into that category, lol - but only after 4pm. :D Got too much sh!t to do in the day.
Yip, I definitely think this would work well for me too - though I do not enjoy the sound of my own voice, lol.
