Some Days I Just Want to Stay in Bed!

Without a doubt, "creativity" is something that doesn't happen in a straight line.

Most of what I do for both work and recreation involves some form of creativity, so when I am feeling a bit flat I find it very difficult to do much more than just sit and stare at my desk... or the birds out in the yard.

Today has been such a day, from the get go!

I have often thought that "just MAKE yourself do it" is a useless piece of advice, because any time I have tried that I end up making so many errors it's not even funny!

I have no great advice to offer if you're in such a predicament, other than to put your energy into something totally UN-creative like cleaning house or mowing the lawn.

Or going back to bed, as I mentioned before!

Maybe it's easier for those who have "regular" jobs where what you have to do is outlined and defined by someone else... I don't know. But I imagine we all have our ups and downs.

Even though I am a writer and I love writing, I am glad not to be doing it for a living... I would hate for it to start feeling like a chore!

It was a key reason why I quit as a technical writer, all those years ago!

Anyway, I resorted to some very uncreative yard work to get this day to not end up a complete waste! And honestly? Not such a bad thing.
