Finding a few quiet moments this Sunday afternoon, and hoping this will actually post as our Internet has been a bit dodgy... most likely due to the high winds.
I like living away from the city, but one of the minor annoyances of living in a more rural area is that the lines for most of our services run through forested areas on utility poles and we're "not important enough" that they have put our services underground yet. As a result, every time it gets really windy, there's a good chance a tree or branch will fall on a line somewhere and take out the electricity, the cable service (Internet) or out landline phone.
Yes, we still have a landline because we're too far (and over a ridge, and down the hill) from the nearest cell tower to have reliable mobile service... most of the time, we're connecting with just one or two bars.
Evidently, one of the formal "excuses" is also that we're too close to Canada (I can see Vancouver Island from my back deck) and the signals are weaker here to avoid cross-national service... not sure if I actually buy into that rationale, but sometimes I pick up my phone and get a "Welcome to Canada!" message pop up.
But hey, it's probably better than what many people in the world get!
Another Milestone...
Not a huge deal but I noticed this morning that my stake ticked over to 6,000 Steem Power, just a few days before I reach my 4th anniversary of joining this community.
Part of the funny thing about that is that this is now the third time I am a "dolphin" on Steemit... I have had to power down twice before: Once to buy a new set of tires for our truck, and once to help pay property taxes when we were in danger of losing our home to property tax foreclosure.
The 6,000 SP is still a ways from the highest level I reached which was 7,700-something.
Back to Work!
Anyway, just wanted to "mark" the milestone before I get back to work here... I have eBay stores to load with new listings and product photography to be done.
Yes, I'm working again... our visiting daughter decided to roll back towards Seattle early, to avoid long lines at the ferry terminal.
When you're self-employed, there's no such things as "weekends;" you just work whenever you need to... which is pretty much all the time.
But at least I can roll out of bed at 8:30-9:00 in the morning and go to bed at 1:00am with impunity!
Thanks for reading, and have a great remainder of your weekend!

I love to be in countryside.Cities are too hectic and dirty. It is nice to have Canadian border not too far. Have you had a chance to visit Vancouver for short trip? If I were you I definitely would have done it.
It is nice to see that your SP is not back to 6K. Like you were we will be 4 years in August. The time is going too fast.
By the way, I really love the last picture, the little settlement looks so tiny in compare to the huge mountain. Is it the place where you live?

Hi @stef1, we've been up to Vancouver a few times, which is a lovely "world city," and certainly one of the most scenic locations for a major city! We can see the night sky of Victoria, BC from our back deck... and we've been over there a couple of times, too... reminds me of a "small England."
The little community is Beckett Point, about 100 homes crammed onto a small piece of flat-ish land by the water in an area where the shores are otherwise almost vertical. The village was built in 1939 by some adventurous people from Seattle who had been camping there in the summers to fish for salmon... and decided it was so nice they wanted to live their year-round. There's some nice drone footage on their web site:

We live in the next community over, called Cape George.
