Mrs Denmarkguy and I spent much of today putting away the final remnants of decorations after Christmas, and returning our house to its normal "winter state."
When I was a small kid in Denmark, we always had the decorations put away before New Year's Eve... it seemed like most people did.
When we moved to Spain when I was a teenager, the holidays continued till Epiphany — 12th Night/January 6th — and we kept things up until about January 10th, because it was local custom... even though we were not really local.
Christmas in Spain never quite "felt" right to me, as a young person... I suppose because I had grown up with cold winter weather, and being able to wear shorts in late December seemed a little bit "off."
Of course, then I went to University in Texas and the holidays might bring below-freezing temperatures or we might be having what felt like summer weather... more often than not, the latter.
Regardless, I'm glad for the change. Somehow I have never quite felt like I could truly get started on the New Year until the Christmas stuff had been put away. Silly, perhaps...
In any case, I am planning to make this a "creative year," to whatever degree it is possible.
I've already taken the first steps towards polishing up my art web site, and working towards generating regular social media updates... something I somehow have not found sufficient time for, in the past.
I have two home businesses that are not doing very well, so I need to "make something happen" during 2023, or we'll just end up spending another year with our (financial) tails dragging in the water, all year long.
I'm getting tired of living like that!
Of course, life would also be a lot easier if we finally experienced some sort of turnaround in the crypto markets. Most of what we have is down 70-90%(!) from where it was, just a year ago... just look at Steem, even!
In some ways, crypto has started to feel more like a lottery than an actual investment...
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week ahead!
