SAINT TROPEZ – The story of the French Riviera

Dear Steemians,
I want to talk to you about one of those places that perhaps are not visited first on the French Riviera, but truly unique, full of history. You have all heard of Saint Tropez, but not of the Citadel of Saint Tropez. In French: Citadelle de Saint Tropez

One of the few large defensive monuments on the French Riviera. The museum of maritime history has been located inside the central bastion since 2013, where the history of French navigation is retraced. Great explorers, conquests, naval battles, sea fishing and the progress of science related to navigation.

As many as 18 rooms in an itinerary where each room hosts a theme. Hundreds of collectibles, from fishermen's nets to the first cruise ships, from the most sophisticated battle weapons to naval maps.

Above the museum, a beautiful terrace that pays tribute to the spectacular Gulf of Saint Tropez, often invaded by luxury yachts.

The Mediterranean scrub in which it is immersed is wonderful. Many animals in freedom.

Many cannons surround the defensive walls, I think their casting, given the height they are at, was really important.

The area is very large, and allows a wide view of the sea, not surprisingly it was a place of control of the sea, to monitor ship traffic and potential invasions.
