A Magical Night in Zihua with a Sea Turtle Mom 🐢💙

Hi Everyone😍

I’m still excited from what happened last night😊 I was walking along the beach here, enjoying the warm evening air when something truly magical occurred. A sea turtle mama came ashore 🐢

There’s something incredibly humbling about witnessing nature in such a raw, beautiful moment. This strong mama turtle made her way up the beach. She was looking for the perfect spot to lay her eggs.

I didn’t want to disturb her so I kept my distance, taking photos without flash to capture the moment while keeping her safe. Watching her dig into the sand with her head and flippers was surreal. She seemed so focused, determined and graceful💕

But what honestly made me quite emotional, was the way she dug the sand with her head. Her eyes and face were buried in the sand as she worked tirelessly to create a safe place for her babies. There was something so pure, so selfless about it. She didn’t care that she was getting sand all over her face or in her eyes.

She was completely focused on making sure her eggs were protected. This is what being a mom is all about, right🥹❤️

Watching her, I thought about how universal that experience is, even across species. To be a mom is to give a part of yourself, to be vulnerable and to work endlessly to create a future for your little ones. It’s hard and meaningful, full of strength and love❤️ This mama turtle’s instinctual act of protecting her eggs felt like a reflection of that deep connection between all mothers, human or animal.

And I quietly walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner. But my thoughts stayed with her.

After dinner I returned to the beach, she was gone, but I noticed marks on the sand and wall. Someone, likely an expert or a informed local, had protected the nest site, marking the area. It warmed my heart🥰 The people of Zihua truly care about these creatures💕.

To be honest, it was an emotional experience for me. I felt connected to the cycle of life in a way I hadn't expected. Watching this mama turtle reminded me of resilience, of nature’s rhythms, and how much we humans need to step up and protect our environment and its delicate ecosystems.

And beyond that, it reminded me of the universal bond of motherhood, how much love, sacrifice, and care is wrapped up in it.

I’m carrying this moment with me and I know it will stay with me after I leave Zihua 🐢💙
