Hi Steemians ✨
Franz Kafka is one of my favorite novelist and story writers. Therefore, it was very special for me to be in the city where he lived and to go to his museum 😊 He combines realism and fantastic. He was born in 1883 in Prague. He was a member of a German-speaking Jewish family in Prague. Kafka lived in this house from the age of 6 to 13, known as Dům u Minuty (The House at the Minute), which is covered with pictures. I have been admired this building since the first time I saw it ✨

He was a law school graduate. I have read two of his most famous books, The Metamorphosis and The Castle. These novels were quite striking and thought-provoking for me. The next book is The Trial which I got a lot of advice about it.

The photo below shows the original of his law school diploma in the museum. When he was working for an insurance company, he had time to write. He wrote many letters to his family and friends because he loved to write. He even wrote many letters to his father, who had a distant and tense relationship. The original of one of the letters he wrote to his father is seen in the photo 🪶

One sentence he wrote to his oppressive nature father was as follows:

Your opinion was correct, every other was mad, wild, meshugge, not normal. Your self-confidence indeed was so great that you had no need to be consistent at all and yet never ceased to be in the right.

"My job is unbearable for me" is a sentence from a draft of a letter that Kafka's Czech fiancée, Felice Bauer, wrote to the father.

What I admire most about the museum is that it contains a unique collection. Many of Kafka's correspondence, diaries, manuscripts, photographs and drawings have first editions.

Did you know that Franz Kafka drew? Honestly, I didn't know he was drawing. I saw his creative and extraordinary paintings for the first time in this museum 🙊

There are very nice designs in the museum. One of them is this stairwell where Kafka's words are written. This road, illuminated by dim red light, had a very impressive ambiance.

There is a huge mirror at the end of the stairs. On the mirror is a sentence of Kafka's The Burrow written in German, English and Czech.

"Your house is protected and self-sufficient. You live in peace, warm, well-nourished, master, sole master of all your manifold passages and rooms."

There are also handset telephones on the walls of the corridor. When you pick up the phone, you can listen to Kafka's words from his books. It's a very nice feeling 😊

There was a special section for Kafka's loves. His first girlfriend was Selma Kohn, whom he met in high school. She would sit with him on the banks of the Vltava River and read Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra. When I read this I said wow. Another woman who entered Kafka's life is Dr. Hartung. His fiancee Felice, Milena who became famous for his letters and others. Interestingly, he never married, despite being engaged many times 🙄

It seems that many women took part in his life. Sometimes I wonder why writers with intense emotions have so many lovers. When I read what they wrote to a lover, I say Wow, big love. And then I am shocked to see their deep letters to many others after breaking up with them 🤷‍♀️

The term Kafkaesque was applied to describe situations like those in Kafka's writings: intolerable or hopeless situations! Few of his works were published during Kafka's lifetime. Unfortunately, they did not receive any attention.

He gave his unfinished works such as The Trial, The Castle, and America to his friend Max Brod for destruction. Fortunately, Brod did not listen to him and decided to publish them after the author's death. Of course, his opposition to the will is debatable.

There is Piss sculpture of mechanical bronze men urinating standing opposite each other in a pool designed in the shape of the Czech Republic. The strangest thing is sculptures with movable penises write sth to the water with their movement. The unusual thing is that by texting the phone that says there, you can have these statues write a message to the water. Who wants to try? 😄

This is the last known photograph of Franz Kafka, who died of tuberculosis at the age of 40 in 1924. It is an early death. Maybe if he had lived, he would have seen the popularity of his works. Who knows, maybe he would destroy them himself, I don't know. It's a fact that Kafka's works continue to influence many writers, critics, artists and philosophers throughout the 21st century ⭐

I love that picture of you in the red stairwell! Spooky!

Thank you so much 🥰 The red stairwell and the writings on the walls were a magical ambiance ✨

Great museum containing so much history and facts

Yes, it was. Thanks for your comment 🙂

You have great thinkers who pursue meaning in this Kafkaesque world.

But then again, you those naive few, like myself, who wonder, "Who is she sneaking up on?"

Thanks for the video 👍

"Who is she sneaking up on?"

It made me laugh 😅

Great photos , I love it 🙂👍

Thanks, taking photos in the museum can be difficult sometimes, but I tried my best 🙂

I loved this museum photos too :)

Kafka is very famous in my country as well. Unfortunately, I have not read him, yet. I want to read him in the soonest time. This museum photos look very impressive :)

Thanks a lot, The Metamorphosis can be a good choice to start his novels 👌
