I visited Ixtapa Island for snorkeling and I’m still super happy after my snorkeling trip😍 Wow, it was like stepping into an underwater fairytale 🤩
First, I traveled from Zihua to Ixtapa and hopped on a small boat to the island, which only took about 10 minutes. As we approached, I could already tell it was a tropical paradise with swaying palms and lush greenery 🌴
I was so excited, but I’ll admit, a bit nervous too😅 I wasn’t sure what kinds of sea creatures might be waiting for me under the water.
Once we reached the island’s popular snorkeling spot, I slipped into the ocean and after a while started spotting fish. At first, a few curious ones, and then a gray fish swam right up to me. She wasn’t shy at all, and it seemed like I’d found a little friend 😍 She stayed close, as if keeping me company 🥰
Then I noticed that all the fish seemed to be drawn to the corals, so I followed the reef, and sure enough, that’s where the magic was. Suddenly, I was surrounded by a cloud of vibrant, colorful fish, all covering and moving around me. It felt like I’d stepped into a fairytale, gently swaying with them in the ocean’s rhythm 💙

It’s a shame I couldn’t capture it all on camera, but maybe it’s one of those experiences meant to stay in memory. I wish I could share the fish I saw, but I’ll post a few photos of some of the amazing species that live around Ixtapa Island.
This one swims in large, lively schools just above the corals, with bright yellow tails👆

I’m not completely sure if I’ve found the exact fish in this photo, but they look almost identical. These were the vibrant, tiny fish that swarmed around me, each about the size of a finger👆

This is exactly the view I saw, and it was absolutely breathtaking👆 I felt like I was in an enchanted world where fish and people live together, if only for a few moments 🥰💙

And these, wow, they were stunning with their light and dark blue hues and big lips😄 Sometimes they’d bump into each other, and other times they’d be nibbling on the coral👆
And then, a Ray👇 I actually saw one leap out of the water, it was amazing! I’m not sure how common it is to catch that moment, but I’d say it was pure luck😍 I didn’t spot it underwater, but from above, it looked large.

Finally, the feeling of snorkeling was incredible, almost like flying. Floating in that warm, crystal-clear Pacific water, I was completely surrounded by fish which are bright, colorful, and so friendly 😍
I felt like I was living in a beautiful dream, completely immersed in their world. I hope everyone gets the chance to experience the incredible diversity beneath the sea 💙
Thank you 🍀
This looks like an absolute life-changing experience. How much did it cost you for the gears and snorkeling itself?

Yes, it provided me with many new perspectives. Actually, I didn’t pay for the snorkel gear since it belongs to me. I only covered the transportation costs. The taxi ride from Zihua to Ixtapa was about 400 Mexican pesos, and the trip to the island cost around 100 Mexican pesos round trip.
