After trips to Kirillov and Ferapontovo on the way back, I drove past the village of Novlenskoye, where the Bolshaya Elma River flows and saw from the bridge a lot of huge stones on the shallow riverbed. The next day, I immediately went to photograph these stones.
This year, all the rivers have become shallow, and the water level is low in all reservoirs.
Bolshaya Elma was no exception – the receding water exposed huge boulders.
The river has a length of 60 km, begins in the forests of the Vologda region near remote villages and flows into Kubenskoe Lake.
It was like I was on another planet.
I've never seen such huge boulders!
If it is difficult to estimate the size in the photo, then I can describe – the largest of them was as tall as me, that is, 173 cm!
In one of the narrowest places, I crossed the river in ordinary boots, but in other places, for some reason, there is more water.
I wish I could come here in the afternoon to look for fossils...
And there is still time – winter is not planning to come into its own yet.
..And I didn't want to leave this cosmic place.
