Postcards from Veliky Ustyug

It's been a long time since I photographed postcard views of Veliky Ustyug. I have been stating the fact for many years that summer is a postcard–landscape period. In these genres, as for me, there is not much soul, but there is a lot of aesthetics.

And yet there is an atmosphere in landscape photography...Yeah, when it's done at night, at dawn or sunset.

The memory code is present in all the snapshots and these are especially dear to me.

I photographed these views with my son. For me it is as dear as a memory.

There is nothing profound about ordinary architectural views.

Also, I don't feel anything from over-processed architectural and landscape views.

I do not know how documentary photographers do it, but in their pictures there is such a subtle style and a very strong presence of that very code that a sense of presence is created.

And for this, excessive processing, stitching panoramas, layering and other false effects are contraindicated.

No matter how much I study the personalities of ordinary and famous photographers, it all boils down to one thing – you just need your magical state and a camera.

Everything will work out by itself! Maybe not the first time.

I very often feel this code from ordinary amateur pictures, rather than from hyperrealistic pictures from famous maestros.

And because not everyone feels the inside of the picture, most see only a beautiful cover.
