sunsets in the arctic
living in iceland can be pretty bleek, long dark winters and bad weather. however becuse of how far north the island is located. we are compensated during the long summer nights, where it´s daylight or sunlight 24 hours a day during the high summer, during sping and autumn we get amazing coloring of the sky.
my first photo of this "sunsets in the arctic" series is as well as the others shot durin spring-summer-autumn of 2020.
the first photo is shot during a midnight drive in rural eyjafjord, iceland. the purple sky, mirroring or "reflecting" back in the ripples of the ocean as the sun briefly "sets".
the next one is shot during the night hours, around 3 or 4 aclock in june/july 2020. the orange sky is captivating and although now looking back, i could have gone a little eayer on the after work. however i think the image is well worthy of publicity!
next imae is from a dreamy night of walking around the harbour area of ólafsfjordur iceland. taking photos.
it depicts a beutyful... "sunrise" i guess, at also around 4 in the night. it shows the stone wall defending the town from the sea, as well as some fish working housesto the right. in the background we have majestc icelandic mountains and the sun lighting upp the sky. the main focus point tough, might be the orangy hume reflected on the the ocean.
the next one is captured that same night, and on it is my at the time :(... wonderful walking partner, and companion. the miniature schnauzer "raven". i am deffinatly going to make a post with only pictures of her. she now lives with my ex wife. in the image the beutyful dog looks out towards the ocean and sunset/rise.
the next one shows trash left behind by the local fishery´s, the harbour area is beutyful, but parts of it are full of things like these, i dont really know what they are. but i saw the beuty in them decaying there, and in the orange sunlight of the night they actually turned out to be a great picture material!
from orange we switch to red as another summer drive around rural iceland the skies were red, like they ere burning, it was amazing, and frankly i havent seen such a red summer sky ever. so i am glad i captured it!´
hera a container decaying at the harbour, and lupins, the contrast betwene the purple of the lupins and the orange of the sky (and container orange but rusty, facinated me and here is a result of that facination!
´
this last picture is really dear to me, due to events happening around this time, wich i might get into later, but not in this post. wich is already getting rather long. the image is digitally altered, maybe also a bit too much. but it was meant to be a print. it shows a night sky at the ólafsfjordur, iceland in it´s magnificent colors.
i hope you have read and looked through the pictures, if so i also hope that you enjoyed it.
if you have i thank you and hope that i get some comments, hints and tips. and i will be sure to reurn the friendlyness, i am here to get to know you guys, teach what i know and learn something new :)
i already cant wait for the summer to come, (for photography and many other reasons). however snow can be pretty aetheistic when you look at it that way. and i will probably do a "snow", post / collection.
i do not knoe the rules here, but i´ve seen posts where accounts are "tagged" i´m not sure if its considered rude or invasive, or if it´s the norm. (someone please let me know in the comments).
however for exposure on ambition for my photography, steemit, and this post. i allow myself to tag a few people wo upvotd or commented on my last post.
untill next time, have a great day and stay safe!

Wow, you live in a beautiful place. The sky colors and reflections on the water make for dramatic images. Do not be afraid to remove objects such as light poles and other non-essential items sticking up into the sky.
I really like the image with the round pipe looking things; they have great lines. I encourage you to go back and shoot those again, but closer and from different angles. The same could be done with the shipping container & lupin.
Have fun!

thank you so much for your feedback. and oh yeah, iceland can be a verry beutyful place. so much land here, untouched by man, endless opportunity for landscape pictures, as well as during winter, photographing the aurora borealis.

No problem, it was a nice way to travel vicariously. Iceland has always been a place I have wanted to travel to. I finally get to a place in my life where I have the time and money to travel and the world shuts down.
I do look forward to seeing more of your work!
