Hello everyone, how are you today?
It is another time to participate in the creative writing contest initiated by @xpilar in the world of xpilar community. This story is based on the digital drawing above, made by @xpilar. The drawing serve as an inspiration in which the story is built, I hope you love the story.

Although I have heard tales of what space looks like, and what to expect when you get to space. I have seen it in movies too, but I have not travelled to space before. I hope I will do someday because the tales are intriguing and also frightening too. But the excitement and the adventure outweigh the fright.

The image reminds me of a mythological character, gorgon Medusa, whose gaze can turn any living thing to stone as a punishment from the gods. But the mainstay of my writing is the similar story I heard a long time ago about place in space where you get whatsoever you wish for when you touch the image at the seashore.

As usual, everyone wants their wishes granted. They all wanted something for themselves, at all cost. ‘We want a good life for ourself’, someone exclaimed. And this led to a struggle and a huge competition among the people. But of course, the richest had the opportunity to go first, making it a priority to use their influence to seize the opportunity.

However, the only rule is that your wish can only be granted once. If not for this rule, the rich would have had dominion over the image in space but since their wish had been granted, they could not return the second time.

At this stage, I was fascinated because it would cost a man a lot to make it to space.

Not long after people started trooping to space, they soon built structures around the image that granted wishes. Some turned the place to a worship center and started worshipping the image. Sooner than later, this place in space became the most talked about and the most popular place known to man. Everyone longed to go there; everyone tried the best they could to go there.
There were few scholars that raised their opinions concerning this place; they raised questions that were worth attending to. Some of these questions are:
How did this image come to be?
Where did the image come from?
What is the source of its power?
What is the consequence of granting the wish?
When would the image stop granting wishes?

Despite these questions, people still kept on visiting and some lived there, refusing to come back to their families. It was really intense because it seemed like these concern and questions of the scholars were rhetorical and required no answer.

After a couple of years have gone by, the people living in this place in space woke up one morning and could not find the image where it uses to be. It just disappeared over the night. There were theories and opinions’ concerning how the image disappeared but none was verified.

So, I guess those that got their wishes granted are the lucky ones.

The story still rings in my ear as if it was read to me, and I know a lot of people will want such image to be available at this age we are.
