A Graphite Portrait

I got hold of some portrait with good tones sometime in November last year if memory serves me right. As it so happens I totally forgot about them. But last week while having a random scroll through my gallery I saw some of these and it reignited a flame in my heart.

The need to go all portraity came back again. Sadly, I didn’t arrive at the result I had earlier anticipated but my friends I was close.

I had a look at your drawings. You mainly draw western people? Where do you find these photos?
Is the skin that wrinkled ifvso caused by the sun?

👍

Thanks a bunch.
I usually pick my subjects based on the tones the picture capture. And most local pictures are aimed for social media or a pretty face hence my not too frequent patronage. But when I see a good one, I don’t fail to engage it.
My main source is Pinterest and sometimes I get references from fellow artists.

Is there a reason you draw western faces or is it more to improve the skills?

Thank you for answering.
@ wakeupkitty

I actually never considered it as western faces. I just draw what I like and what catches my eyes when recommended.
I would love to draw people around me but whenever I capture them, they want to take the sketch or worse, they’ll try and tell me to make them look prettier or reduce their big nose or mouth and stuff like that.
To avoid all these, I stick to my online references which are predominantly western.

So long story short, it’s just coincidental.
