The importance of looking ahead

Let's say you're crossing a really high bridge. It's mostly safe, but you're afraid of heights. You've just started crossing it, so there's still a seemingly long way to go, but you've already taken a few steps. On the other side, lies where you want to be. Looking down, your fear would devour you - causing loss of balance, concentration and possible injuries.

Looking back, you noticed how painful it would be giving up and even readjusting so you can safely retreat. So the only correct approach is looking forward. Set your eyes on your goal. Not on how high you are, or on how safe could this bridge really be.

Leaving your comfort zone wasn't easy, but now that you're here, all you have to do is keep walking towards your goal. It's okay if your pace is slow - you'll get there. Step by step, you'll cross the bridge, you'll land where you want to be. Both of your feet shall finally feel firm ground below your feet.

Such is life. No matter how despaired you've been recently, you are really likely to overcome whatever your obstacle is if you just keep looking forward. Being distracted by your delicate situation won't help, nor will obsessing over resentment, grudges and nostalgia. What's in your future might not be certain, but the point is walking towards it.
