This is the game I watched this afternoon, I wanted to see what City would look like against a team that had a lot of injured players. Well the first fifteen minutes were just City holding the ball and Real pushing with excellent counterattacks. After this City settled down and had the ball until finally Haaland scored the first goal. Grealish was injured before the first half was over and Foden took his place. Overall City managed this first half quite well, but it seems they are having problems in attack.

For the second half Guardiola sent Lewis in, a substitute that I personally don't think is quite yet up to the task but Guardiola seems to have a lot of faith in him. A couple of minutes in and Real scored the draw. City went on the attack and Foden got a penalty, which Haaland scored. With the team ahead Guardiola again made two substitutions, very soon afterwards Real scored the tie again and a minute before the end scored the winner.

OK, of the five goals all were gifts, the first City goal I am quite sure Gvardiol was offside, the first Madrid goal was a lucky goal by Mbappe who tried a kick, didn't make it, but the ball hit between foot and knee and somehow went in. The second city goal was an unnecessary penalty, the second Real goal an Ederson mistake and the third one a Lewis mistake. The game could have easily ended 0-0.

Things to take away from this game. Real Madrid, while not playing great football is incredibly good at counterattacking. City has defensive and offensive problems. Guardiola is certainly going through a rough period, personally I think this loss is totally on him. Maybe he has lost control of his players, and his decision making is close to awful. I doubt they will be able to revert this in Madrid.
