The leaves are said to have diuretic properties, and are used to treat dysentery. The juice from the leaves mixed with vinegar is used for anti-inflammatory and digestive medicine. The decoction of the leaves is used to clean the wound. Yellow flowers eaten with wild ginger are consumed to increase work stamina.
Apart from that, the root is also used for the treatment of diarrhea, dysentery and gastric disorders. Root paste is also used to treat ulcers. The plant fibers are obtained from the bark and are of good quality, used for making rope and yarn. This easy-to-extract plant is known to have good, strong, shiny, white fiber. In experiments with fibers, it was shown that a rope with a circumference of 12.5 mm can withstand a weight of 180 kilograms.
