This plant in scientific language is called Melastoma malabathricum, a herbaceous plant that has very beautiful flowers. Its beauty is not inferior to other ornamental plants.
Karamunting flowers with the genus "Melastoma" consist of several species and the species in this picture is Melastoma malabathricum. The characteristics seen in this species are the purple color of the flowers and the flowers which have five petals. There are many names for this plant, some call it Harendong, Senduduk, Sengganen or by other names depending on each region. This plant is very familiar to farmers because it usually grows in their gardens or fields which must be eradicated because it is a weed.

This plant is believed to neutralize toxins, as a remedy for ulcers, canker sores and also for diarrhea. How to use it varies depending on needs. To neutralize the poison, pick senggani leaves as much as 50 grams then boil them in three glasses of water until the remaining one glass. Then drink the boiled water after filtering and chill. Roots can increase the number of platelets in the human body, by boiling the roots.
