Kashima Antlers, based in Kashima, Ibaraki, Japan, are a powerhouse in Japanese football. Founded in 1947 as Sumitomo Metal Industries Factory Football Club, they moved to Kashima in 1975 and have since become one of the most successful clubs in Japan. They play their home games at the Kashima Soccer Stadium, which has a capacity of 40,728.

Since the inception of the J.League in 1993, Kashima Antlers have dominated the league, winning the J1 League title a record eight times. They have also claimed the J.League Cup six times, the Emperor's Cup five times, and the Japanese Super Cup six times, making them the most decorated club in Japan. On the continental stage, Kashima won the prestigious AFC Champions League in 2018, and they have also won the J.League Cup / Copa Sudamericana Championship twice.

One of the most notable figures is Brazilian legend Zico, who played for and later managed the team, leading them to several titles. Other standout players include Gaku Shibasaki, who scored both goals in Kashima's 2016 FIFA Club World Cup final against Real Madrid, and Mitsuo Ogasawara, a key figure in their domestic successes.
