Moments of Connection in Wild at Queen Elizabeth National Park

There are days in the wild that leave you humbled not just by the grandeur of nature, but by its tenderness.

While out on a photography expedition in Queen Elizabeth National Park, I had the rare privilege of witnessing something deeply touching; a baboon mother with her baby, and not far off, an elephant calf sticking close to its mother’s side. These were not just animals in the distance but were living stories of connection, care, and instinctive protection.

As I crouched with my camera, lens trained on these incredible moments, I couldn’t help but feel like an observer in a sacred space. The baboon glanced at me briefly, not with fear, but with a calm that said, “This is our world too.” A few meters away, the elephant family moved with gentle grace, the calf occasionally nuzzling close to its mother's side.

This is what drives my passion not just the thrill of capturing wildlife, but the chance to share the quiet magic of their world with those who may never see it firsthand.

Wildlife photography is more than an image but a reminder of what we must protect. And through my work with Hillary Uganda Trips, I’m grateful to guide others into these unforgettable encounters where conservation meets connection.
