What's good #WorldofXpilar? Just thought I'd pop in for a minute and talk about how Tropical Storm Debby made landfall this week in the United States and had major effects on parts of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Here in North Carolina, we had a couple of tornadoes pop up and—tons of rain—that and a small amount of wind more than anything else in my area. Here are a couple of pictures...nothing big, I think 50 MPH winds were the highest we saw, which really is nothing. We've already seen worse this summer with a few thunderstorms we've had. To be clear, we're still in a flood watch/tornado warning.
The three pictures below are from the ditch and the back corner woods. We've been very lucky, as we haven't had a major storm here in almost two decades. We did have some flooding five or six years ago, but nothing else worth talking about.
As you can see from the video above, we did not get the bad part of this storm.
There's not much summer left, and in this area, generally, that means it STAYS hot and humid. Thank you, Willis H Carrier, for inventing the AC! Enjoy the rest of your day!

I went to college in NC and the threat of flooding was something that we were always worried about. During one particularly bad storm / hurricane the entire city lost power and marshal law was declared. Almost everyone's apartment were destroyed, it was a crazy time for sure!

I'm not sure how I missed this comment. What school in NC, if you don't mind me asking? If I had to bet/guess, that was probably Hurricane Floyd. Everything went to hell in a handbasket just about all over the state.

I went to East Carolina University and the name Floyd seems like it is probably the right one. When we were finally told that we had to evacuate our apartments the water level was already almost completely above the first floor apartments below my own. When we returned weeks later we could see that the water had risen about 4 feet into the apartments on the 2nd floor. All the buildings were deemed unlivable and I was kind of shocked that the owners were somehow able to salvage some of the structure's wood. All the interiors had to be completely redone obviously. Crazy times that was.

Oh yes, quite crazy! I was living about an hour and 45 minutes west, near Raleigh. It completely wrecked us that far inland, so I can just about imagine it was hell at ECU. By the way, my oldest daughter and niece graduated from ECU as well. 👍

It's a great part of North Carolina. That was a long time ago though, I bet Greenville looks nothing like what I remember it being like now though. I don't see myself heading back there again ever though. It's so far away and I have no family there anymore.
