Dysdercus Cingulatus, a beautiful insect that stains cotton

Goodnight Friend,
Tonight I want to show you all one of the animals I encountered last afternoon behind my house.

This animal is Dysdercus cingulatus or better known as "bapakpucung" is one of the important insect pests that attack cotton plants (Gossypium sp). This insect comes from the order hemiptera of the family Pyrrhocoridae. This insect pest, also known as the Cotton Stainer, started attacking cotton crops since this insect entered the nymphal reproduction phase to become an adult insect. Older nymphs tend to attack the bolls while the adults attack the cottonseeds. Dysdercus cingulatus stains cotton by damaging the tissue in the fruit, thus causing unwanted microorganisms to colonize through these parts. As a result, cotton fruit has decreased in quality and quantity.
