Sunrise from my garden this morning
I love a classic English or French garden - there is something really beautiful about the formality and structure of both styles. They are very grand... majestic even - and absolutely the perfect setting for an afternoon of "High Tea" haha! But as much as I love and can appreciate both the above - I have to say that it is a wild garden that speaks to my heart and soul.
I suppose that is fitting, given that I live in the middle of the bush in country bumpkin land. I think my love for a more informal style of garden comes from my late mom. Though there was always structure in the wildness of the gardens she created and grew - they were always mostly left to develop their own level of character and personality.
I don't know if any of you have ever watched the movie "The Secret Garden" or even the Gwyneth Paltrow and Ethan Hawk version of "Great Expectations"... but if you have then you will know precisely what kind of garden attracts me like a starling, lol. Imperfectly perfect I suppose is the order of the day!
I don't just like a little bit of quirk - I love a LOT of it! The more the merrier in fact! My mom never really let anything go to waste... whether it was a broken pot, an old bird cage, kitchen tin, knives and forks even - if it no longer served a purpose for its primary role somewhere else... then it generally found a new role in the garden as some kind of decoration... and I absolutely LOVE that!
I love looking for ideas for my garden and "junk" that I can use to re-create my own type of "secret garden" - though it is a large space and I will probably be about 100 years old by the time I get it looking the way I want it to, lol! That won't stop me from adding to it though :)
There are literally no limitations to how creative you can get in your own little green oasis! I was browsing through Pinterest the other day... looking at bird feeders and other garden ideas and I came across three really cool ideas which are so easy to make yourself and they just look SOOOO lovely! I especially love the little tea cup and saucer idea! - Also the orange, though that may not last very long... Actually, I really like the soup spoon too! Okay - I love them all! :)
There is a junk shop in central Hermanus and I could literally spend an entire day in there! I think I will have to pay a visit to them again soon, lol! I guess it makes sense that my type of appeal when it comes to an outdoor space would be a little off centre haha! What kind of outdoor space style appeals to you?!
❤❤❤
Until next time...
Much Love from Country Bumpkinland, South Africa xxx

Being a reader, i could only imagine English gardens while reading English literature and my imagination never disappointed me.
The secret Garden is in my reading bucket for many years, i am more of a book person, now i compulsively want to purchase it.
And i promise i will imagine gardens shown in this post while reading it,hehehehe🍀☘🌿🌾🌴🌱🌲🌳

What a lovely compliment @aminasafdar - thank you so much! <3
Indeed! They do have a manner of "internally transporting" a person to a somewhat magical time and place, don't they :)
