I feel like there is a bit of a catch 22 here. On the one hand AI comments that look and sound real do absolutely increase activity as real users respond and interact. However, and this is a big however, most in the community would want any AI generated comments labeled as such and when people see that something is labeled as AI they are not going to respond or interact with it, hence the catch 22. Therefore, if the AI generated comments are not going to actually get real people to interact, not really sure that it makes much sense on this platform... just my 2 cents.
