Hi friends!

I'm going to show you a slightly more complex design so that little by little you feel more confident with the use of the geometric principles already seen.

*

-----------------------------------------------

Having drawn an octagon as we did in the previous post (https://steemit.com/hive-185836/@jorgevandeperre/islamic-art-eightfold-shapes-iii) and having drawn the helplines to divide it as shown below, it is at this stage that we can make a variation...

1.png

First, I will extend all the lines that cross the octagon, as shown below.

2.png

I also drew the four lines through the eight intersection points inside the octagon.

3.png

I will repeat the central squares, those that give rise to the eight-pointed star drawn in the previous post. I will begin by repeating the square tilted at 45° to the right side.

4.png

Now, I have the right position to draw the second square.

5.png

The position of this second square allows us to draw a circle around the octagon.

6.png

This is how we get the intersection points to draw a larger octagon.

7.png

Once the outline is done, we get this shape.

To make this shape even more complex we can interlace the lines in the same way as did earlier when drawing Celtic patterns (https://steemit.com/hive-185836/@jorgevandeperre/celtic-knotwork-basic-principles-ii).

You can repeat this pattern as many times as you want, up, down, right and/or left.
