Hi friends!

Did you know?

Pterosaurs were a diverse group of flying reptiles that lived during the Mesozoic Era, from the Late Triassic to the end of the Cretaceous period (around 228 to 66 million years ago). They were the first vertebrates known to have developed the ability to fly, long before birds and bats.
Pterosaurs were not dinosaurs but were closely related to them. Their sizes varied greatly, from species with wingspans of a few feet to some of the largest flying creatures ever known, with wingspans reaching up to 10 to 12 meters (33 to 39 feet). Pterosaurs filled a wide range of ecological niches, from coastal fish hunters to inland scavengers and insectivores.
They had membranous wings that were supported by an elongated fourth finger. Unlike birds, whose wings are made of feathers, pterosaur wings were made of a leathery membrane of skin, muscle, and other tissues stretching from the body to the tip of the extended finger. Some species had a thin layer of fuzz or pycnofibers that might have helped with thermoregulation.
