My post goes for week 197 of WoX Portrait Photography and Art contest run by @mister-omortson. The topic suggested was 'Bird's view of the city' - or, in other words, Aerial photo. There are several options you can go for this.
Often, one have to get very high into the mountains. Or use tremendously-sized heavy gear to take aerial pictures...
...like this US Army Air Corps Keystone F8 aerial reconnaissance and map making camera (source: Getty Images).
Or use battle pigeons, like they did in 1916... But remember: The Size Does Matter!
Ok, this was a sort of a prologue, a lyrical overture to my own photographs, I hope you dont mind.
I live at metropolis which is located on a pretty flat surface, we don't have any picturesque mountains here; even high hills are in short supply. But over the years of travels, I have been to the mountains several times. In the photos below you will see the low rusty mountains of the Crimea.
A real photo without any exaggeration or manipulation in Photoshop - as you can see for yourself, the legs are really higher than the mountain peaks! Of course, it all depends on the observer's point of view, hehe. By the way, these low mountains are located on the territory of the Crimean peninsula, and the lovely blue waters are the Black Sea.
And now, the view of the city itself. I don't remember which of the small coastal towns is exactly photographed in the photo below, but it's not that important, as they all look similar and typical... Low houses, dusty roads, stunted acacias, an abundance of cats here and there. I really fall in love with these sleepy southern towns!
If you enjoyed my photo, please vote for it here. People have the power, every vote matters!
Phew: you had me confused for a second there :)

Thank you! Crimea is a lovely looking area, photos turn out well without any efforts involved, to say the truth.
As for the b-w photos, this part is not mine of course, but I hope you enjoyed it too - this is a wonderful but not forgotten page of our history... i feel excited turning over these pages, even though it was a terrible war time!
