🎲 Surinaamse Monopoly 🎩 A Game For Suriname & Learning Dutch 🚗

There are very few "Suriname" products due to Suriname being a small population country. However, when we saw a Suriname version of Monopoly in a local clothing store, we had to buy it.

SUCCESSFUL SURINAME SCORE 👍

     Long before COVID-19 and the collapse of public transportation in Suriname, we used to go downtown once a month to wander around aimlessly and buy an odd item or two for the @KidSisters, although usually clothing.

     When we found a clothing store with a games section, we began picking through all the random cheap imported Chinese games to find a Suriname version of Monopoly.

     We quickly headed home to learn some new Dutch words and see if this boardgame would turn us into "dodelijke vijanden" as it does to most families.

THE BOX 📦

     We were able to learn the Dutch word "kans" before we arrived home as it's printed on the front cover. I guess we took a "kans" in buying this game, not knowing what to expect inside.

🐴 INSIDE 💵

     I didn't expect high quality parts inside as the box says it's "made in China", but was surprised to see some non-plastic tokens and a decent board.

     I began explaining to the anxious @KidSisters that this game is like no other. A standard Monopoly game can end in someone's night being ruined, and who knows what tension Surinaamse Monopoly game might provoke.

🎩 THE BOARD 🎲

     The gameboard contained a lot of already familiar streets. Suriname has no railroad, so I thought that was a funny thing to keep. I think bus lines would've been an appropriate replacement.

🤬 LET THE HATE COMMENCE😡

     As Monopoly generally starts off peacefully, I snapped an early pic while both parties had houses, hotels cash and good spirits.

     This photo is after I told Monkey-B her Monopoly future didn't look too promising. SreyYuu is obviously not bothered by this knowledge.

     We've had "Surinaamse Monopoly" for quite a while, and we still play it on occasion, but only when everyone is feeling tough as nails.
