Bangrak bazaar and flea market for cheap vegetables and street food.

Bangrak is an old district by the river in Bangkok. There used to be lots of Chinese immigrants and merchants in the past. Nowadays the area has a medium size shopping mall and a local market selling cheap vegetables and lots of street food in the evening. Tourists liked to stay at guest houses and hotels in this area.

I am very fond of this market and used to drop by for some fresh vegetables. The choices are just amazing and I must admit I don’t know how to cook some of these vegetables. I don’t even know the names of some vegetables.

In the evening there would be long lines of customers waiting to pay for their vegetables. Several street food stalls would be ready to serve their customers by early evening. This place is popular among oriole who want to have good food at affordable prices.

I often buy vegetables at this market whenever I happen to be in this area. Then I would take a walk along this narrow street to observe those busy vendors and their customers. Office workers regularly buy vegetables and take-away food on their way home. This area is a busy hub with many buses, sky trains and ferry boats for getting around Bangkok.

So, I hope that tourists would visit this market and take the express boats for their sight seeing trips along the river. This old community of Bangrak still has its charms and old houses in narrow alleys. The Chinese restaurants in this area are quite famous and some used to get Michelin stars in the past. There are still places I have to explore in this area myself. Good food with easy going atmosphere! See you at the market one day!
