Hello, after a while!
It's been such a pleasure hosting various events recently for Aga Khan University. I was truly honored when my thesis advisor asked me to host a special program being held at the Pearl Continental Hotel. That explains why I have been so inactive on Steemit lately. With two programs and their rehearsals going on, I hardly had time to do anything else. The next one will be shared in the next post, if I get the time * absolutely exhausted*.
There is this quote by Richard Branson that I live by,
“If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you are not sure you can do it, say yes. Then learn how to do it later.” — Saying “yes” opens the door for new opportunities.
This advice rings especially true for me. Throughout my professional path, my willingness to accept new opportunities, however daunting initially, has led to tremendous learning experiences. I believe, while doubts may exist, potential is unlocked through action and acquiring expertise along the way.
My sister @hamnahghauri and my family has been teasing me recently for going out of the way for doing these things and I know they're just looking out for me cause they care. But what can I say? Someone like me was born to multitask and I live for new challenges. So, when another big opportunity came up, you better believe I jumped on that ship hehehhe.
As a graduate student, having the opportunity to head such a high-profile occasion at one of Karachi's most iconic five-star venues was an experience I will never forget. My supervisor, who has provided invaluable guidance throughout my studies, recognizes my passion for bringing people together through thoughtful discussion and entertainment. It has been deeply rewarding collaborating with AKU's mission of education, research and service.
Being able to host the dinner event provided the perfect opportunity to not only celebrate the extensive three-day conference organized at Aga Khan University, but also to share the experience with my husband, who was invited and it felt great ofcourse. As one of the lead organizers of the highly successful nutrition-focused gathering (which is a post for another day), it was truly an honor to be invited to its closing celebration as a host. The conference agenda comprised of varied session types aimed at disseminating knowledge and fostering engaged discussions among both national and international attendees. Workshops, plenary talks, oral research presentations, poster exhibits, panel discussions, and general awareness lectures all contributed to a well-rounded program delving deeply into the crucial topic. Speakers from diverse backgrounds travelled to exchange ideas and perspectives. Organizing such an impactful interdisciplinary event spanning multiple days was an immense learning experience.
Being able to reflect on the conference achievements socially in the company of others who organized and volunteered was most appreciative. My supervisor was extremely prof and appreciative of everyone and made sure everyone was acknowledged with gifts, shields and goodie bags.
Overall, the closing dinner for the nutrition conference was an extremely enjoyable and rewarding way to mark its conclusion. Getting to personally connect with colleagues and thank those who contributed so much of their time and expertise was brilliant. While the planning and execution involved lengthy hours of dedicated work, being able to witness the positive impact and sharing in the celebration with my partner and the entire team made it all worthwhile. I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to more such events. It was truly a blast to be a part of such a successful undertaking from start to finish.
Yours Truly,
@kinzaghauri
