So that's one of my favorite techniques - to create those star light ray effects with the light sources.
Our star, the Sun, in these couple of instances.
Both captured on a trip to a medieval establishment in Switzerland.

Generally, this effect is achieved when apertures less than f/13 are used. (Here, f/22)
