A few days ago I had the opportunity to capture this curious insect, it is a Schistocerca nitens. In front of my house there is a vacant lot, and due to the recent rains the grass has reached a considerable size, helping many animals stay there in search of shelter or food.

^{Hace unos días tuve la oportunidad de poder captar este curioso insecto, se trata de un Schistocerca nitens frente a mi casa se encuentra un terreno baldío, y debido a las recientes lluvias la hierba ha llegado a un tamaño considerable, ayudando con ello que muchos animales permanezcan ahi en busca de refugio o alimento.}

This grasshopper, has a considerable size, measures approximately 5 centimeters long, its colors range from gray, yellow and brown, thanks to this it gets to go unnoticed among the stones, it allows it to blend in with great success; its hind legs are striped and the front legs are orange, its back is yellow with a small brown spot.

^{Este saltamontes, tiene un tamaño considerable, mide aproximadamente 5 centimentros de largo, sus colores van desde los grises, amarillos y marrones, gracias a ello llega a pasar desapercibido entre las piedras , le permite mimetizarce con gran éxito; sus patas traseras son rayadas y las delanteras son anaranjadas, su espalda es color amarilla con una pequeña mancha marrón.}

Surprisingly, it stayed still for a few minutes, thus allowing me to capture it from different angles, its antennae are short and robust while its eyes are large and grayish, its small front legs have an orange color that with the sun's rays are more noticeable just like its tender antennae.

^{Sorpresivamente se quede quieto durante algunos minutos, permitiendome con ello poder captarlo de diferentes ángulos, sus antenas son cortas y robustas mientras que sus ohos son grandes y grisaseos, sus pewueñas patas delanteras tienen un color naranja que con los rayos del sol toman más calidez al igual que sus tiernas antenas.}

When I approached, I did not notice that he was there, after a few seconds when I looked around carefully I noticed his presence, apparently he was taking a sunbath, since he stayed there for several minutes, it did not bother him at all that i was he would have taken as a model, my presence never bothered him.

^{Cuando me acerqué, no observe que se encontraba ahi, despues de unos cuantos segundos al ver con detenimiento al rededor noté su presencia, al parecer el estaba tomando un baño de sol, ya que permanecio ahi bastantes minutos,no le molesto en absoluto que lo hubiera tomado de modelo, mi presencia no lo llegó a incomodar en ningun momento.}

I was able to get close enough to be able to capture its huge grayish eyes, its curious jaws and its so delicate and robust antennae, this little grasshopper is considered a pest of care in crops and ornamental plants for its large voracious appetite.

^{Pude acercarme lo suficiente para poder captar sus enormes ojos grisaseos, sus curiosas fauces y sus tan delicadas antenas robustas, este pequeño saltamontes, es considerado como un plaga de cuidado en cultivos y en plantas ornamentales, por su gran apetito voraz.}
