The night grows pale. Dawn...
One hears more of the fountain's laughter...
Over the silent city, the horizon
Is a strange orchid blooming.
Swallows are ready to say
The morning mass as soon as the sun rises.
Rooster calls sound from hill to hill
In an intense joy of living.
Distant footsteps... a figure that fades away...
In every shadow Colombina betrays...
Silence all around seems eager to speak...
And the waning moonlight, withered,
Reminds one of a pale, dizzy, tattered
Pierrot, all in white, sobbing...
