Hello all...
This time I want to participate again in the 13th macro photography contest held by Mod WORLD OF XPILAR @sultan-aceh and supported directly by @xpilar.
Today I want to post a photo of an insect that I found in the forests of Aceh, Indonesia. The name of this insect is the Caterpillar.
Caterpillars are the larval stage of members of the Lepidoptera order (an insect order consisting of butterflies and moths). The caterpillars of most species are herbivores (folivores), but not all; some percent (about 1%) are insectivores, some are even cannibals. Caterpillars are usually voracious eaters. Many caterpillars are serious agricultural pests. In fact, many moth species are better known at the caterpillar stage because of the damage they cause to fruit and other agricultural produce, whereas moths are not pests. On the other hand, various types of caterpillars are very beneficial for humans. For example, as a source of silk, human and livestock feed, or for biological control of pests (weeds).
