A Day spent in the Village of Oman

This was a very long pending trip that finally happened over the weekend. We have been planning for this since last 2 years, but somehow or the other it would get cancelled. Finally, we could make it this time.

It was a visit made to one of the local villages in Oman. This place is not very far from the city. Around an hour and a half drive, but it takes us into a completely different world, where you see life in complete basics. The person who hosted us is an Omani and he had made such good arrangements for us, that we were really in awe of his hospitality.

When we visited the place, all I could think of is I want this type of life, away from all the chaos, between the nature and so much peace around. Not only peace, but complete freedom also. Our host name was Hamid, He has a big family, 2 wives and 8 children and he is also planning to get married again. This was a little discomforting, but if you look at the family, they all live harmoniously with each other and it is their culture so then I believe each one to their own. He also had his brothers and their families. The Village had a total of 16 houses, from which 3 belonged to his family, where each brother stayed with their families.

It was my first time ever visit to a remote village and experience the life there. The Children live so carefree and also, I see they are very friendly and loving. They were so excited to see us, probably because it's a small place and there is not much life there. Besides the house they have a School, a small health clinic and a provision store for basic necessities. Otherwise, they would make a visit to the city 2 to 3 times in a year and get all the other necessary things and stock up for the year.

It's a community living and mostly they are self-sustained. They have Cows and goats for the milk, hens for the eggs, and grow their own vegetables. All of them grow different vegetables and then kind of trade between them. It makes me think of the Stone age, the time of trading systems. Can someone imagine it still does exist?

The best part was, when I asked them, what do you all think about Corona. Their response was, what is Corona?
Wow that was the most fab thing I heard in a long time. No mask, no restrictions, just the simple clean life.

Let me share some pictures with you all to give you the experience of this Village

As we divert from the main road to enter the Village road. You will see the road here is also rough and not made up, but they are fine with it, they do not even want to government authorities to involve much in their space so they have no complaints about it.

It's a complete rustic place

Till some years they had these Community toilets, though now they all have it inside their homes, but these are still operational.

Camel meat is a delicacy of Oman, though I have never had it, nor do I intend to as I feel it's very heavy for digestion, but people do enjoy it and my friends also did.

He also had arranged for a Chicken dish and fruits so I settled with that.

My Champ, he had the most amazing time, as he enjoys this type of life. I am glad he could make it with us.

Hamed has 3 rifles. This was just for fun. The Rifle is so very heavy that I was struggling to lift it up also :-)
