We can compare nature with each of our own lives. We have sunny days that seem colorful to us, full of positivity, joy and happiness because everything goes well. Even luck seems to be holding hands with us, changing everything, making us smile all the time. We are happy and we spread happiness to those around us. Other days we feel as gray as the autumn's or even winter's colors. Complicated workdays that become boring and make us constantly stare at the clock. Days when the hours don't seem to pass, when the boredom builds up and we end up being plagued by a lingering sadness that ends up leaving us quieter. In these moments, even the sound of silence can be heard.

I love the story you wrote with it and I'd like to add something extra to it. Yes, we do have brighter days and days with less color. In photography we have Lightroom or Photoshop to correct the hue, saturation, brightness and contrast. We have sort of the same thing in life, but we realise it too little. Our mind is capable of the greatest things. It can add brightness by staying positive. It can change hue by seeing opportunities in down moments. Our creativity will decide how saturated that color can be and our hospitality to other cultures can add the contrast we need to see the situation scharper.
Conclusion: Photography=Life, it's all about the perspective.
