Writing competition "135": City under the water

It is the year 2343 and the world has gotten hotter. People are now living in dome cities all around the world to cope with the hotter weather during the day. Three hundred years earlier people still enjoyed going out all day long but with limited time during the afternoon as was the case during the early days of humanity. Aside from dome cities, there are now a limited number of people living in orbit. People living in orbit are still frequently seen enjoying the dome cities.

Aside from dome cities on land, there are also some cities beneath the sea. These cities are unlike what we've ever seen in the movies because they are submerged with pre-defined depth so that the dome keeping the city underwater will not crack under pressure. One good example of those dome cities can be seen in the image below.

The domes are actually orb-shaped and are submerged in a pre-defined depth above the sea surface. Cities like these were built to cope with the hot temperature. Unlike the domes from the surface, these domes underwater have a minimal air-conditioning requirement since the water surrounding the dome also provides a cooler temperature.

Sterli, a young girl who has lived both on domes on the land, in a community on the Earth orbit, and in the cities under the water shares her experience. She said, that there are a lot of differences between the communities. She said that living on land domes is safe since the engineer's only concern is blocking the sunlight and there is no pressure that threatens to break the dome.

She said the living on the land dome is more viable since you can get in and out of the dome at will provided that you have protection from the sunlight. While she is telling the differences between the communities she is holding a book about life in the 1900s. In that book, she said that she learned that the temperature is very very bearable.

While she was talking, I was paying attention to what she was saying, little did she know that I am a time traveler from 2023 and I am with another time traveler from the 31st century.
