The Last Dinner 🍽️

It was a beautiful night, the end of the year. Slowly, the sun began to set and the moon came to remind us that today was the last night of this year. Anyway, tomorrow is the beginning of a new year. We are ready to forget the sorrows of the past with new hopes and welcome the new year. The dining table, which was lit by candlelight, is still empty and ready to welcome us. The dining table was very pleasantly set, but it still feels deserted because the chairs around the table are empty. The dining table is full of delicious food and drinks. So there are only a few people here to enjoy the happy and joyful gathering.

Perhaps this will be our last dinner. Because many of the people who were with us before are no longer with us. They are working in other countries and living. Only a few of those who were there then are here today. I am not sure if they will meet again after today. That is why I have invited them to a dinner party on this last day of the year. The dinner table is ready. Friends are the ones who are coming now. This will bring back the feelings that all our members need to reminisce about old memories and beautiful moments in life. The entire dinner table is lit by only two small candles. I think that is enough. Because it will calm our hearts and bring new hope to our hearts.

They arrived before the darkness of the night completely engulfed the living room. They accepted my invitation and came everyone. I felt a great joy in my heart. It was after a long time that I saw my some of friends like this. So we hugged each other and started talking about the past. Without realizing it, time passed and the new year began. At the same time, firecrackers and the sound of rathujja were heard from all around. We also joined them and welcomed the new year. The dining table was still waiting for us to sit there. We were so happy talking about the past that we forgot to go to the dining table. The candles that were lit there were waving here and there as if inviting us to come there.

Now we wanted to go to the dining table and enjoy the food there and enjoy its beauty. Because how spectacular is it to see everyone sitting around the table and eating like this..? But we don't have the opportunity to see it every day. The entire living room was filled with laughter. The emptiness that existed before their arrival is no longer there. Now even the candles are looking at us and happy. After sitting around the dining table and eating, everyone got ready to sing songs. So I joined them. I felt like the hands of the clock were moving faster today than usual. I thought it would be better if time had stopped in one place instead of going. But we cannot stop time.

Now it was time to leave. As much as it hurt, time had crossed us by, and we had to distance ourselves from each other and go back to our usual lives. What a sad moment this was. Even the two candles that had been lit on the dining table were now extinguished. The dining table was deserted again, the smiles that had been there a few hours earlier disappearing. What to do? Not every second we spend in life brings us joy.
