THE INVENTION OF A CAMERA:
Invention of Digital camera has been traced back to the work of Ibn al -Haytham , Ibn al-Haytham (c. 965–1040 AD), an Arab physicist also known as Alhazen, wrote very influential essays about the camera obscura, including experiments with light through a small opening in a darkened room. He invented the pinhole camera obscuras .
This camera was used as a drawing aids since atleast circa 1550.
Since 17 century I think this camera was used as a drawing aid ,
This camera has a natural optical phenomenon that occurs when an image of a scene at the other side of a screen (or for instance a wall) is projected through a small hole in that screen and forms an inverted image (left to right and upside down) on a surface opposite to the opening.Before the invention of photographic processes there was no way to preserve the images produced by these cameras apart from manually tracing them. The earliest cameras were room-sized, with space for one or more people inside; these gradually evolved into more and more compact models. By Niépce's time portable box camerae obscurae suitable for photography were readily available. The first camera that was small and portable enough to be practical for photography was envisioned by Johann Zahn in 1685, though it would be almost 150 years before such an application was possible.
EARLY PHOTOGRAPHIC CAMERA 18th /19th century:
The first permanent photograph of a camera image was made in 1825 by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce using a sliding wooden box camera made by Charles and Vincent Chevalier in Paris.

In the 1830s, the English scientist William Henry Fox Talbot independently invented a process to fix camera images using silver salts.
THE FIRST DIGITAL CAMERA PROTOTYPE : 1975
Steve Sasson invented the digital camera while working at Kodak in 1975.
The camera was capable of taking 0.01 megapixel (10,000 pixel) black & white photos, and storing 30 photos on a removable digital magnetic tape cassette. The invention of this camera really brought a progressive move in the camera world.

Arrival of camera phones: 2000

In the new millennium, we were introduced to a novel new type of camera, the camera phone, which was first introduced in Japan in 2000. There seems to be some disagreement as to which was the first camera phone. The leading contenders are:

Samsung SCH-V200, which could take 0.35 megapixel photos and store them on an internal memory device
Sharp (J-Phone) J-SH04, which could take 0.11 megapixel photos and send them electronically
At that time, small point-and-shoot digital cameras typically were taking much better photos in the 0.78 – 1.92 megapixel range (1024 x 768 pixels to 1600 x 1200 pixels), with high-end digital SLRs taking 10 megapixel photos (3888 x 2592 pixels).

In November 2002, Sprint became the first service provider in the U.S. to offer a camera phone, the Sanyo SCP-5300, which could take 0.3 megapixel (640 x 480 pixels) photos and included many features found on dedicated digital cameras. The arrival of phone camera has made photography and camera so easy and interesting , in this age we have mind blowing phone cameras that when used to.
