Photo of the Svydovets mountain range.

I have written many times that the Carpathians are beautiful in their own way. There are no high cliffs and sharp peaks. The mountains are covered with forests or alpine vegetation.

And now I will say that the Carpathians are very different mountains. Take a look at the Svydovets mountain range. The mountains here are covered only with grass. This is a great place for grazing cattle. Previously, you could see huge flocks of sheep. Now sheep and other cattle are also slaughtered here, but in much smaller numbers.

By the way, if you look closely, in this photo you can also see a shepherd and cattle. Especially if you look at the photo in full size. Unfortunately, in the article the photo decreases and its quality too, so it is difficult to see the shepherd and the cattle.

This mountain range has a rather strange shape. On the one hand the mountains are gentle, on the other they seem to be torn. Why so? There are various explanations. Some say that it is erosion, others that it is the work of avalanches. I think that all the processes have contributed here. It cannot be explained by just one process. For example, avalanches come down more often from a steep slope. But this is a consequence rather than a cause.
