Will it die?
People have told me that if you cut off a snakes tail, it'll die. Most of the time, this is either stated out of ignorance or as a joke, with the punch line being that the tail starts after the head... which really means that if you cut off a snakes head, it'll die. Anyway, in this video, I introduce you to an Eastern Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix) which happened to lose its tail at some point earlier in its life. I provide this as evidence that indeed a snake lose its tail and yet still remain alive. PS - Please do not cut off the tails of of snakes, whether venomous or not. Enjoy the show!
This was cool. Reptiles are fascinating.
